Unseeded Territory

Alongside three of my peers, I researched and investigated the history of apple trees in Kamloops. We discussed the colonial history of orchards, land theft, and the cultural and economic impacts of apples on Indigenous peoples. All this is woven in with a creative, researched plant autobiography from the point of view of an apple through four generations’ time. 2024.

Moosehide Campaign

This spring I will be participating in my first ever Moosehide Campaign gathering. MMIWG has been a topic that captures my attention. To show my support to the families and loved one’s who are affected by crimes against Indigenous women and girls. I have ordered moose hide pins to share with others and spread awareness.

ENGL 3160: Blanket Project

During my BA, I took a course with Heather McLeod called Indigenous Film & Literature. Our class took part in a group project where we were to each sew one square of the blanket. The theme was colonization and reconciliation, and the goal was to apply our knowledge from the course to create our square that would later be displayed in TRU’s art gallery. For my square, I focused on climate change, wildfires, and the displacement of animals and people. We were obviously not being marked on our sewing skills!
