I attended the Emergency First Aid course in 2023 at Valley First Aid School in Kamloops. I had taken the course years before, so it was a refresher. That said, I was able to have hands-on practice. I was assessed by a written test and a practical demonstration of what I learned. Having some first aid training will be advantageous to my teaching career.

Taking the C.O.R.E. course gave me knowledge and skills that I will keep with me for life. I learned about all of the game species in BC and how to identify them. I learned about conservation legislation, public portrayal of hunting, and political influences on hunting. In addition, I learned biological differences between species, what each species eats, and how to recognize and identify animal sign like prints, and scat. This course combined with my field experience has increased my appreciation for the land and wildlife I live on and around.
