EDEF 3200: Teaching Philosophy

This assignment forced me to engage with my core principles and what I think is the most important. I struggled to put this together because I find there is no single quote, especially written by another person, that could encompass all that I care about. What I decided to focus on is interconnectedness and reciprocity, and how those things are foundational to practicing equity.

This presentation’s aim was to apply critical reflection to explain what has influenced me to become a teacher. Some of the topics I mention include my struggle with a permanent mental illness, my family history, my economic status, and teachers who inspired me in positive and/or negative ways. As I revisit this assignment I can see how far I have come since the first semester of B.Ed. year one. Collecting artifacts and analyzing the path that led to wear I am and who I am helped me to position myself relative to others with different experiences and challenges.
